Alma Karvat

Alma Karvat Shemesh is a professional dancer born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel.  She studied dance at the Thelma Yellin High School of Arts, served in the IDF as an Outstanding Dancer, and graduated from the Maslool – Professional Dance Program Bikurey Ha’Itim directed by Naomi Perlov and Ofir Dagan. Between 2018-2022 she danced in Batsheva – The Young Ensemble, where she performed works by Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal, Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schreiber, Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof, Noa Eshkol, and Nava Frenkel, amongst others. She presented her own work as part of the Batsheva Dancers Create program in 2018 and 2022. She also choreographed and produced two dance films, Inbetweeners (2022) and Sepia (2020), as well as producing SALON – Batsheva Dancers Create and NObody by Béatrice Larrivée.

Currently Alma is a Gaga teacher and a freelance dancer.
