Bo Martin Matthews is an artist, writer, and emerging choreographer born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Matthews graduated from the New Mexico School for the Arts in 2018 before moving to New York City to study at The Juilliard School. During the 2021–2022 season, Matthews performed with Complexions Contemporary Ballet at The Joyce Theater in New York.
After graduating from Juilliard in 2022, Matthews moved to Tel Aviv and joined the Batsheva Young Ensemble (2022–2024), later becoming a member of Batsheva Dance Company (2024–2026). During their time with the company, Matthews began developing their own choreographic practice.
In the 2026–2027 season, they will join Tanz Bielefeld under the direction of Ella Rothschild.
Matthews has also expanded into production. In the spring of 2025, they co-produced the Batsheva Dancers Create evening Tama. In the winter of 2025, Matthews joined the production team at Suzanne Dellal Center for Dance and Theater in Tel Aviv as an assistant producer for International Exposure — the annual platform for contemporary dance in Israel that brings artistic directors, producers, and curators from around the world to experience the country’s vibrant dance landscape.
