Hyunjung Lee

Hyunjung is a performer, choreographer, and teacher based in Daegu, Korea. In 2012, she earned her certification to teach Ohad Naharin’s Gaga movement language after completing the first official Gaga Teacher Training program. Tools from her practice of Gaga help her find meaningful activities, unconventional thought, and fresh perceptions in her creative endeavors and everyday life.

Hyunjung graduated from KeiMyung University where she earned her BA in Dance (2003) and she was a recipient of the scholarship in excellence to attend Kyung Buk Art High School (1999). She has studied various dance styles ranging from traditional Korean dance, Korean modern dance, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, African dance, and Gaga. As a member of Yoo Kyung Chang Dance Company and as a guest artist with various dance companies, Hyunjung performed nationally and internationally in Denmark, China, Mexico, Japan, America, and Korea.

Hyunjung was a gold prize winner in the 10th New Figure in Dance Daegu Contest, sponsored by the Korean Arts and Culture Organization in 2002. She was also the first prize winner through Daegu Dance Association. Additionally, she choreographed the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2003 Universiade in Daegu summer program.
