Stefan Ferry

Stefan Ferry was born in Belfort, France in 1975, and he began studying ballet in 1982.  From 1991-1994, he trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), receiving the Prix de Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris with honorable mention at the end of his studies.

Stefan danced with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo under the direction of Jean-Christophe Maillot from 1994-1999, performing repertory by Maillot, George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, John Neumeier, and others. In 1998 and 1999, he created two short dance works for the Workshop of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

Stefan joined Batsheva Dance Company in 1999 and danced with the company until 2008, performing works by Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Sharon Eyal, Barak Marshall, Ruth Ziv-Eyal, John Jasperse, and others. From 2003-2008, he produced Batsheva Dancers Create and choreographed short works for these annual programs. In 2007-2008, Stefan served as rehearsal director for Ohad Naharin’s Furo. He received the Yair Shapira prize in 2005.

Stefan has extensive experience as a teacher. In 2006, he worked with the dance school of Even Yehuda, where he taught classes and choreographed. He gave a summer course of ballet classes with Movement, organized by Ran Adari, in 2007 and 2008, and he taught ballet at the Chlore Center in Kfar Bloom in 2008. Stefan has been a teacher of Gaga since 2008. Besides teaching classes regularly, he led Gaga workshops for students in the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda in June 2009 and at the Ateliers de Paris – Carolyn Carlson in November 2009.
